  • so I went through this and upgraded to a 2.13, and when I turned on my computer the power went on, but nothing on the screen. Pretty panicked at this point. replaced the old chip, and still no monitor response. Any suggestions?
  • Hello Good video... very helpful..thanks
  • Hi, you should warn the viewers to remove the two torx screws in the battery compartment before trying to remove the button panel. Apparently the nc6120 you are taking apart in the video already has them removed. Thanks.
  • @thecworld100 I found this chart for you: cpu-upgrade dotcom forwardslash mb-HP forwardslash Pavillion_dv6000_(Intel) dothtml Good luck!
  • Great job! If I had watched your video first, I would have save much time because I tried to open the case to change the fan when all I needed was to take out the keyboard! Thank you for posting. And the picture was clear and you explained it well.
  • get your spares for this laptop here myworld.ebay.co. uk/surreyit
  • Hello Good video.. Can you please tell me what do I know what processor is compatible with my laptop.. I want to upgrade my processor. TOSHIBA SATELLITE C655D S5085 2GB DDR3 RAM currently using a AMD V140 2.3 ghz single core processor Help me please. Thank You
  • Dog 1:05 :D
  • @omsinos You can't change out RAM types because it's designed into the motherboard. So yeah, on this one you're stuck with pc2700. I was happy to have doubled the amount of ram it was spec'd for, sweet.
  • Thanks. But your mom is so much better than me, she had YOU!
  • @steeljan plzz can u tell me if i will able to upgrade cpu on my hp pavilion dv6700???plz answer me soon...
  • this is my grand mother
  • Are all HP keyboards like that?? i have an HP g61 with a 2.10ghz processor and im looking for a dual core processor any suggestions??
  • @rnblakeman thanx for the info ;) too bad im from a shitty little country in europe... but thanx again for the response
  • @dslandrey Don't know. I haven't had a chance to play with any of the i3 i5 or i7 processors yet. You could look on the hp website and see if it was offered with optional processor upgrades. That'd be your best bet.
  • can i also remove the graphicscard or is it attached to the motherboard ?
  • i have same laptop, stopped working! when it is on power adaptor, the power adaptor led is flashing, while only on battery id doesnt power on any sollution?
  • i have a similar toshiba laptop, ( model m30x-113 ) with the same 1.6ghz cpu. I recently upgraded it with a 5400rpm hd ( it had a 4200rpm ) and 2GB of memory. Is it worth it to upgrade the cpu or is the gain so minimal that it would be a waste of time and money? thank you!
  • @lusmat Yes. Just gotta figure if the cost and risk to your laptop is worth it.
  • im gona use arctiv silver 5, what pad is she using and where can i find them???
  • Not necessarily. You'd need to research the specific computer you're wanting to upgrade. A good first step on this is look at the manufacturer's website and see what processor "flavors" your pc came in. With that page open, then start searching forums to see if anyone's actually done it before, with what you currently have to what you'd like to put in there. Finally, then you need to decide if the upgrade is economical to you. Cheers!
  • I have the same computer NC6120 with a Pentium (M) 1.86 GHZ processor. My question is where did you go to buy better cpu? Best Buy and Microcenter do not sell CPU's for laptops, can advise?
  • hello there. do you know if i can upgrade my cpu on hp dv7-3120ev?? it has intel core i3 350m and i want to put an i7 720qm. can i do that?
  • Wow, that is awesome! Thank you so much for making this video!
  • does this work on all computers
  • @steeljan hey i really need help can i update my cpu on my g71 hp it has a celeron i really want a duo core is there anything i can do? i dont know what socket it is idk what mother board it is so i dont know what cpu is compatible can you help me pls?
  • @joxim92 If you go into the bios, does it show the hard drive as a listed device? If it doesn't, your hard drive may be bad. Also, does it show all your memory there? Have you had this computer a long time and it's just going bad? I'm asking because if you just got it used, it may be password protected or protected by USB key, in which case you will not be able to unlock it as far as I know.
  • @blasphemer76 I just googled and found info on upgrading the acer aspire 5050 at computer-adviser dotcom. Wish I could put the link directly to it, but youtube comments doesn't allow it. But just go there, put the acer aspire 5050 in their search box, and it should take you directly to it. Thanks for watching.
  • @chonichon07 Yep, we still play Beatles Rock Band here... yeah, yeah, yeah! :-)
  • @OneToothRedneck Well, you don't want just any 2.0Ghz processor, the specs for SWTOR says the min is a dual-core 2.0Ghz processor. My video here is how to change out a single-core processor, so I'm wondering if you got a single-core processor, which if you did, and it's 2.0Ghz, it's probably not going to run this game well. If yours is a dual-core 2.0Ghz processor, it'll probably be fine. Happy Holidays!
  • @mokle999 Go to crucial dotcom and either enter your computer's model or let crucial scan your computer. Either way, it will tell you exactly what memory modules your computer can take to upgrade it. Thanks for watching!
  • Answer pls i need you help.. Now i have 2gb ram how much ram i can add ? can i add 4 gb ram more or how much more i can add pls answer :D !!
  • I wish i had a grandmother like this :D
  • Thx, very informative and thorough. Just what I needed to know ref memory located under the keyboard. Keep up the good work.
  • Only old person good at computers lol sry if i hurt you
  • @09ikeanmike56 Use your specific laptop model. Go to Compaq's website and see if that model was ever offered with a better processor. If it was, then you will know what you can probably put it in yours without any problem. On this nc6120, I went one bit farther by researching the stepping code on the current processor and making sure the new processor used an exchangable stepping code. You'll also want to google to see if anyone else has tried it, pay attention to if they had heat problems.Tks
  • @00007bily I just did this one, the nc6120, for a friend who wanted it done at the time. For any other desktop or laptop, you'd have to research it and see what can be done.
  • is it possible to change CPU on every laptop?
  • @StuntStudiozZ LOL, thanks!
  • i have another problem..dunno how but my power cord came out with this little "pin" still in...any idea how can i fix this ?
  • Changed my ram out today but put 2 2gb cards and am going to put a 2.2 Ghz cpu in tommorow Hoping the mobo supports it
  • Thanks for sharing!
  • @alvinbaez2006 I'm not as familiar with the nc 6000 because I've never worked on one of those. But I found a forum post that said it would work with these processors (try it at your own risk, of course): Intel Pentium M 755 2.0 GHz Processor Intel® Pentium® M Processor 755 (2M Cache, 2.00 GHz, 400 MHz FSB) Intel Pentium M Centrino 2Ghz 2M L2 755 SL7EM CPU As for the memory, there's a youtube vid for upgrading the memory on an nc6000 at watch?v=B4Y4MKI1x0M
  • just got a brand new labtop for the game SWTOR(Star Wars The Old Republic) for christmas, and my GHz is 2.20, is that good for this game? when the minimum req. is 2.0 GHz i got 8G of RAM and a good graphics card, i got my computer 2 days ago, should i take it back and ask for one with 2.40+ GHz? the recomneded req state that a 2.40+ GHz would be best.
  • Can all hp computers be upgraded
  • @StreetArtillery I seem to remember that they only came with one memory module and provided the other empty bay for memory expansion. Happy upgrading!
  • @ViajePerverso Pretty much all HP keyboards, and laptop keyboards in general come out this same way. I've never worked on an HP G61, so your best bet in upgrading the processor is to go to HP's website and see if this model was ever offered with a better processor. Those would be safe bets. Also, google around to see if anyone has already upgraded the processor on this machine. Thanks!
  • I have an old NX6120 and everything looks the same from the one in this video. I raised the keyboard and found that the memory module is missing. So i removed the bottom lid to check the other memory module and it was there. Does that mean that the nx6120 only came with 256mb of memory? Or did someone steal my other 256mb? This video is kool, I´m going to buy the 2GB and the new processor and change them myself.
